UNIQUE TRADITION IN BALI
“ NGARAK OGOH-OGOH” IN NGERUPUK DAY,and
“CATUR BRATA PENYEPIAN” IN NYEPI DAY.
Ngarak
Ogoh-ogoh is one of famous tourism attraction for Balinese people. Usually, Balinese
people ngarak ogoh-ogoh on the street one day before they celebrate silent day
or “ Nyepi Day”. Balinese people, especialy neighborhood youth association is
very enthusiasm to make ogoh-ogoh for celebrate Silent Day,or “ Nyepi Day”.
Balinese people,
especialy for Hinduism believe that Ogoh-ogoh can be neutralize of Bhuta Kala
in their Village. Bhuta Kala in Balinese language has same meaning with devil.
Ogoh-ogoh also can be neutralize of Kala Tiga Wisesa. So, the appearance of
ogoh-ogoh same with devil, or “Bhuta Kala”, in Balinese language. Ogoh-ogoh is
the symbolic of Bhuta Kala.
Balinese people,
especialy for hinduism Ngarak Ogoh – ogoh in their Village , one day before
Nyepi Day , on Ngerupuk Day. Hinduism people Ngarak ogoh-ogoh in their village
in the afternoon. Before, Ngarak Ogoh-ogoh , Hinduism people praying together
in the temple. And then , Hinduism people Ngarak Ogoh-Ogoh as long as their
village. After that, they burn the Ogoh-ogoh in the crossroad.
And after Ngarak
Ogoh-ogoh , Hinduism people also have
unique tradition, it’s called “Ngerebeg” in balinese language.
“Ngerebeg” Tradition has same function with “Ngarak Ogoh-Ogoh”. The function of
“ Ngerebeg “ Tradition for neutralize of Bhuta Kala in their house. But
“Ngerebeg “ tradition held for each in their house.
